ÂWant to convert your old golf car into an electric vehicle? This guide will show you how to do it yourself.
Find an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger.
You can find EV chargers at any auto parts store. They usually come with a plug that fits into your wall socket. If you need help finding one, check out our article on where to buy an EV charger.
Remove the Gas Tank.
Once you remove the gas tank, you will need to disconnect the battery cables. Then, you can take off the wheels. Next, you should remove the seat and the steering wheel. Finally, you can remove the dashboard and the windshield.
Install the EV Battery Pack.
Now that you have removed everything from the car except the frame, you can install the new battery pack. You will need to make sure that the battery pack is securely fastened to the frame with bolts. If you are using an aftermarket battery pack, you will also need to connect the positive and negative terminals to the battery pack.
Connect the Car's Electrical Wires.
Once you have connected the wires, you can start charging the battery pack. You should charge the battery pack at least once per day to ensure that it has enough power to run the motor when needed.
Charge the Battery.
If you plan to use the battery pack as an emergency backup system, then you will need to charge it more frequently than daily. It is recommended that you charge the battery pack every night before bedtime. This will allow the battery to recharge overnight so that it is ready to go whenever you need it.
